Valentine Julius Huffam, (1893-1919), known as Julius, was the son of Timothy and Jane Huffam of Richmond. He was living in Australia when war broke out. Julius returned home and enlisted in May 1915 in the New Zealand Medical Corps, No. 2 Stationary Hospital. He embarked in 1915 and served both in Egypt and on the Western Front. Julius died aged 31 years of broncho-pneumonia following influenza on 22 January 1919 in Cologne, Germany. He is buried at Sudfriedhof Cemetery, Cologne. |
