O'Shea, George Augustus

Portrait of George Augustus O'Shea (1889-1916). George was the son of Thomas and Mary O'Shea and was born at Wakefield. He enlisted in 1914 and served at Gallipoli where he was wounded twice. He recovered but he contracted meningitis and died of the illness in January 1916 at Hospital in Cairo, Egypt. George had borrowed a fellow patient's turban to pose for this photograph which was taken shortly before he died.
